Even as automated vehicles such as robotaxis grow more prevalent in the U.S., almost every mass transit system still requires a driver or operator on board. Two major cities are seeking to change that. Officials in Washington, D.C., recently advanced a plan that could let computers fully control one of its subways, and Los Angeles is seeking to build a new, completely automated line. Honolulu already has one. The Washington and LA projects, which would take years to implement and still face financial and technical hurdles, come amid an already fierce debate over the safety risks and benefits of automated trains and whether the substantial upfront expense is worth the long-term savings in

Pennsylvania’s AI Deceptive Advertising Act leaves a lot of loopholes. On Thursday, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed the Artificial Intelligence Deceptive Advertising Act into law, requiring disclosures on AI-generated ads. The law requires any ad — whether it’s a still image, video, audio, or text — that “has been significantly modified or generated by artificial intelligence” to include a label in the same format as the ad itself. That applies to TV commercials from multi-billion-dollar companies , as well as restaurants’ ugly, crowded flyers about their wing specials. Pennsylvania is one of the first states to require disclosures on AI content. And it requires those labels

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump cast his ballot in the midterm elections Saturday, saying he voted for all Republicans in Florida before speaking at a Georgia rally. WATCH: Trump says he ordered suit to block Alaska Senate results if GOP loses Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrived at their West Palm Beach polling location at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office together after the president spent the morning at his nearby golf course. Trump has been criticized in the past for voting by mail despite his long history of railing against that method of submitting ballots. Asked if he voted the party line, Trump, who was wearing an "I Voted" sticker, said,

Your browser hears you. A language model writes one pun. Dad says it out loud. Tap the camera. Dad counts down, snaps a photo, and roasts what he sees. Photos are never saved. Paste this into Claude Code or any coding agent. It sets up DADGPT with your own keys.

People have also begun marching in the port city of Marseille, France’s second-most populous city. Thousands had gathered for the procession down the Canabière main street. In Lyon, crowds have set off from Place Jean-Macé, chanting slogans and singing, flanked by rows of police officers. Crowds are also marching in Toulouse and Lille . Meanwhile protest restrictions remain in place in other cities, where last-minute legal appeals have failed. In Bordeaux , demonstrators have shown up at the Place de la Bourse despite a city-wide ban and tram cancellations. “Whether the protest is banned or not, we will support the high school students’ movement and we won’t abandon them. If there really was a sure fire way to get rich quick, why sell books to the public? Why not keep it to yourself and apply it to make money? The same applies to AI. If it was really all that, they wouldn't be selling tokens to the public. They would be forming corporate partnerships, building products and conquering markets --- starting with the financial markets. Those who

The AI boom is pitting local residents against corporate giants seeking to power their energy-hungry networks – but one Welsh city is fighting back D ale Johnston opens the gate to his neat suburban garden on the western fringes of Newport in South Wales . There’s a trampoline and a slide on the lawn for his grandchildren, and chairs for him and his wife. He should be enjoying the light draining from the perfect autumnal sky – but almost his entire view is blotted out by a vast expanse of prefabricated panels. The 23 metre-high grey hulk looming over him and his neighbours is a hyperscale datacentre. It is heralded by the area’s Labour politicians as a job creator, yet all Johnston can

BBC’s Blue Planet III is keeping in shots that would normally end up on the cutting room floor to prove it’s real. BBC’s Blue Planet III is looking to prove its authenticity by leaving in the less-than-perfect shots. Previous incarnations of the nature series were defined by their gorgeous, crystal-clear footage that seemed almost too good to be real. But one dead giveaway of AI is when things look too polished and seamless. To counter that, Blue Planet III goes warts and all. Executive Producer Elizabeth White told The Guardian in the past, “the amount of plankton and things” floating in the water would have caused them to cut a shot. Or “we might have framed out a boat or a buoy or gone:

SpaceX appears to have lifted restrictions the Ukrainian military’s of use Starshield — the military-grade version of the company’s Starlink internet system. The Wall Street Journal reports that Defense Minister Evgeniy Khmara told reporters that Starshield appears to be working normally again, although the military is still conducting tests and has not received an explanation for the restrictions. This follows a 10-day period where Ukrainian drones would lose internet connectivity when flying at speeds of around 100 miles per hour, resulting in the military losing control of some drones, while others became more vulnerable because they were flying more slowly. The ANS was strongly based on the Power Macintosh 9500 and Apple was known to have demonstrated the ANS with Mac OS during development, but this confused potential buyers, causing the ability to boot Mac OS to be stripped from production systems. While then-CTO Ellen Hancock claimed in 1997 a ROM swap would enable the ANS to boot Mac OS again and Windows NT, these ROMs were believed to be vapourware until a former Apple employee presented a working dump of both the preproduction ROM and the later ANS Mac OS ROM .

The UK says it will establish a national AI Biosecurity Lab (AIBL) to help strengthen its defences against emerging biological threats. As part of Wednesday's Budget, the government will commit £100m to establishing the new, "world first" institute with the support of leading AI firms. The chancellor will also pledge millions of pounds in spending across a range of initiatives aimed at shoring up the UK's ability to respond to evolving cyber, biological and AI-enabled threats. "AI will transform daily life: every firm, community, hospital, school, and every aspect of our economy can benefit," John Healey said. "I understand and share the concerns of working people, so I am setting out a

New details of IV team’s attempts to find a vein shared by Pike’s lawyer ‘shocked and disturbed’ practitioners Medical experts have expressed shock at the apparent incompetence shown by Tennessee’s execution team during the failed lethal injection of Christa Pike, the prisoner who survived a normally fatal dose of pentobarbital, which they say would be considered medical malpractice in any other setting. New details emerged on Thursday of how Tennessee’s intravenous (IV) team struggled for almost an hour to set up a line into Pike’s arms through which she would be administered the fatal dose of sedative. A blow-by-blow account was released in legal proceedings from Pike’s lawyer, Randy

Reality: it is an active, involuntary vasomotor response. The nervous system constricts blood vessels under the skin to form ridges—acting like tire treads to channel away water and improve grip on wet objects. Patients with severed median nerves don’t wrinkle at all. AI slop, source links also incorrect. This is a waste of everyone’s time. Because i got curious: Water immersion skin wrinkling is an indicator of limb sympathetic function. Routine clinical usage of this enigmatic phenomenon is hampered by poor endpoint quantification, which involves counting skin folds. The recent discovery of the importance of vasoconstriction in immersion wrinkling suggests digital blood flow or volume
