There's no school in the village. The nearest one is a boarding school an hour away that costs a few hundred dollars a year, which is out of reach for most families there and was about two weeks of summer job money for me. The daughter of the family I

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv's allies needed to take "concrete action" At least 30 people have been killed in a Russian glide bomb attack on two civilian buses in the eastern front line city of Kramatorsk, rescue officials say. Authorities said three people were also killed in the village of Bilenke, part of the Kramatorsk community. Another 18 people were wounded, said Donetsk regional head Vadym Filashkin, accusing Russia of targeting buses carrying passengers to kill as many civilians as possible. Kramatorsk and neighbouring Slovyansk are part of a so-called fortress belt that Moscow is trying to seize as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's claim to the entire

Google AI Edge Foresight uses an on-device model to process your audio and notes without connecting to the cloud. Google has released an experimental note-taking app that can transcribe meetings and audio files entirely offline, as reported earlier by TechCrunch . The app, called Google AI Edge Foresight , is free to use and runs on macOS using the company’s on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model . Similar to AI note-taking apps like Granola and Wispr Flow, Foresight summarizes your meetings while providing a space where you can take your own notes. Google says you can jot down shorthand bullet points during your meeting, and the app will transform them into “polished notes” based on the

All cloud products require versatile and reliable connectivity options, so that our customers and potentially their customers can reach the services running in our network. At Hetzner, we generally believe in solutions we own and can operate ourselves, and in having building blocks, where we can further build upon. The network, and especially the network connectivity for our cloud offerings, is no different. Although technologies changed over the years, we’ve always preferred solutions, where the moving parts are on the hosts, rather than having a smart and complex physical network setup. As a result, we designed the setup in a way, that the physical network is providing stable IP

Asos has told its customers that hackers are in possession of detailed profiles of potentially millions of the online store's users. It issued the update after BBC News told the retailer it had been contacted by cyber criminals who said this week's breach went beyond the "basic contact details" Asos previously said might have been accessed. Names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, customer numbers and dates of birth are now in the hands of criminals. One victim told the BBC it was "very unsettling" that the hackers now know these things about her. The criminals also have access to the searches customers have made on the website. Terms like "reclaimed vintage", "glamorous wide fit" and "Asos

Court filings reveal new details about Exxon’s decades of internal climate deliberations. If there was a year the world began waking up to climate change, it might have been 1988. That June, the NASA climatologist James Hansen testified to Congress that the climate was warming and would continue to do so as long as humans pumped fossil fuel pollution into the atmosphere. Months later, the United Nations established the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. And, just weeks before the UN vote, Frank Sprow of Exxon’s corporate research department warned his colleagues in an internal memo , “If a worldwide consensus emerges that action is needed to mitigate against Greenhouse gas effects,

Israel KILLED Americans? Quick! Give them BILLIONS more Dollars in US Taxpayer Money! When Trump’s literal reign of terror is over, I can’t wait for whatever Bibi had on him to be released. They heard the perpetrator was in Gaza. Gotta level a city to make sure we got the guy. Biden hid it. As did his entire administration. Nothing will change. Israel owns the place.

Richard Bronson, an entrepreneur who recently launched a startup called Commissary Club , has an unusual background for a founder: in a previous life, he spent time in prison. In the 1980s, Bronson worked for the notorious Stratton Oakmont — the corruption-riddled brokerage firm that was run by Jordan Belfort, the so-called “Wolf of Wall Street” whose story became a 2013 film. The firm collapsed in the mid-1990s under the weight of misconduct accusations. Bronson was a partner at Stratton, but left after a year to start his own firm in South Florida. He was quite successful in that venture, until he wasn’t. “I built a $100 million business taking these small cap companies public,” Bronson

Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5: the cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model we’ve ever released. Claude Haiku 5.5 is designed for high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks. It reliably handles quick and repetitive workloads (like summaries, compactions, database queries, and classification requests). It pairs well with Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 as a subagent on coding work. And, since it’s also our fastest model to date, it works especially well for speed-sensitive tasks like live customer support and browser use.¹ Haiku 5.5 is available at a much lower price than Haiku 4.5. On average, it now costs around 75% less to run.² For details on how we run our evaluations, see the Haiku 5.5 System

Pivot brings the speed and concurrency the AI era demands to open data formats. Run low-latency, high-concurrency queries on external Iceberg, or Pivot's managed Delta Lake - without duplicating your data into proprietary real-time analytics engines. Benchmark harness and queries are in the repo — reproduce them yourself . With object storage as its backing store and only state, Pivot can be scaled up, down, or to zero almost instantly. Run Pivot as a shared server or locally for ad hoc queries and AI agents. Both access the same tables in object storage, with no extra copies to maintain. Connect applications, BI tools, and SQL clients to a shared Pivot server or cluster using the Postgres
