Two trains have crashed in Spain just south of the capital Madrid on Wednesday morning. Rail operator Adif says the incident occurred between a Renfe train and another of the Iryo company, which covers the Madrid to Seville route. The two trains crashed just after 09:00 (08:00 GMT) between municipalities Mora and Orgaz, and about 140km (100 miles) south of Madrid. The accident happened when a high-speed train travelling from Madrid to the south of the country barrelled into another train that was apparently stationary. The crash caused at least two carriages to fall down an embankment. Broadcaster RTVE, quoting the transport ministry, said a Renfe train rear-ended an Iryo train.

I've always had a fascination with reverse-engineering browser fingerprinting scripts. Most of my time has been spent looking at the usual suspects (popular fingerprinting libraries like FingerprintJS and more sophisticated scripts used by anti-bots like Cloudflare Turnstile, Akamai, and others). At some point, I wanted to know what else was out there. I had an idea: What if I crawled the web and intercepted fingerprinting-related browser API calls and mapped it all? To do this, I used the Tranco Top Sites list and began crawling using Playwright. I would hook canvas toDataURL calls and common fingerprinting/anti-bot properties like navigator.webdriver to filter out benign canvases. For

In case you were wondering, the MP for Cook, Simon Kennedy , asked about the Marrickville golf club grant. double quotation mark Yesterday, the prime minister claimed the sewerage works were originally part of the $6 million invite-only taxpayer funded grant to Marrickville golf club. Can the prime minister explain, with a straight face, why there’s no mention of the sewerage works in the prime minister’s own announcement on March 2025? The prime minister answers: “on the 27th of April, 2025, we made an election commitment, building and securing the Marrickville Golf Club precinct that went to a range of activities … and ensure this inner west institution can be enjoyed for decades to come.”

In async Rust the Future::poll method is called to progress the state of the future, which reports its progress via the Poll enum. This enum contains two variants: Futures are called that because they will eventually resolve to a value, in the future . But that’s value singular, not values plural. The stdlib documentation does not clearly make this guarantee (though it should), and the ecosystem doesn’t always implement this correctly (though it also should). But the intent is clear: one future should only ever yield one value. Now what should happen when you try and call Future::poll again after it has already yielded a value? The Future trait docs have the following to say: Once a future

It’s time to see how Apple rethinks the Mac for touch support, years after criticizing touchscreen laptops. Apple has already had a busy week. On Monday, it announced a new iPad Mini with an upgraded OLED display , and on Tuesday, we got M6 chip upgrades for the MacBook Pro and iMac . The Macs are the definition of iterative updates — they’re quiet refreshes that look just like their direct predecessors. But today should be a whole lot more interesting. At an event in Los Angeles, Apple is expected to debut a revamped MacBook Pro with a touchscreen display . This would be the first touchscreen on a Mac (not counting the beleaguered Touch Bar ). Touchscreen laptops are something Apple

The OBR report says RHDI (real household disposable income – one measure of living standards) is rising at a record slow rate – less than 0.1% per decade. That means, by the end of the decade, it will be just 1% higher than its pre-Covid level, it says. double quotation mark Our central forecast represents a continuation of the historically weak growth in RHDI per person since the global financial crisis. Chart 2.7 shows the rolling 10-year average annual growth in RHDI per person. This slowed significantly in the aftermath of the financial crisis, due to lower growth in productivity and real wages. Growth reached a historic low over the 10 years to 2025-26, averaging just ¼ per cent a

This rise is attributable, in part, to the ease of writing applications with artificial-intelligence tools. This is definitely one of the better uses of AI. Billions are wasted every year on utterly pointless grant application writing. I have long been in favour of laws severely restricting the maximum length of scientific grant applications, but now technology has made that unnecessary. In many cases scientists simply chose not to apply for grants they might have a chance of getting because the process is so cumbersome and bureaucratic, now they can just have an LLM write it so they can get back to their actual job. I’ve never seen an application without limits. The NIH set limits in the

Bluesky is blocking users from opening links to a newly leaked archive of records on more than 41,000 Department of Homeland Security employees and contractors, and labels the pages “malicious.” The files include people’s email addresses and phone numbers, “shared without their authorization,” Bluesky tells WIRED, in violation of its community guidelines . The company says it chose to block the links, rather than remove individual posts, “to avoid limiting public discussion or restricting broader access to reporting and commentary.” The DHS records, published Wednesday by the transparency nonprofit Distributed Denial of Secrets, list employees' and contractors’ names, contact information,

FENGARDE turns a raw log line into a verified incident and a draft NIS2 notification . Seven things FENGARDE does that a log viewer does not. Each names the place in the repository where you can check it. No service calls another. Each reads topics from the bus and writes topics back, so any stage can be restarted, swapped or scaled alone. Every box opens its directory on GitHub, and during a replay the boxes light as the attack passes through them. Every capability gets the board's honest word. Anything stubbed, opt-in or not built says so. Read straight from the rule files in the repository: level, title and the MITRE ATT&CK (or ATLAS, or ICS) tag each one carries.

Upwind, a San Francisco startup that uses AI to secure cloud infrastructure, has raised a $400 million Series C round at a $3.8 billion valuation led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from existing backers including Greylock Partners and Craft Ventures. The round comes nine months after Upwind closed its previous $250 million financing at a $1.5 billion valuation . The fresh funding, which has been in the works for months, nearly fell apart after Datadog attempted to buy the company, according to a person familiar with Upwind. Sony has a collection of colorful, translucent cosmetics for its PlayStation consoles and controllers. On the controllers, translucent plastic wraps around almost the entire device’s frame, letting you view the components inside. On the console cover version, the transparency is more limited—you can see only the fan and a few other

The Instagram boss said that worries about AI come down to ‘a fear of being left behind in some way.’ Asked about AI and the trend of college students booing tech CEOs at graduation ceremonies, Instagram head Adam Mosseri acknowledged in an interview that a lot of people really don’t like AI, and it’s not just young people and creatives. Appearing on the Colin and Samir podcast to talk about the launch of widescreen and long-form video for Instagram , Mosseri said he thinks there’s a trend of “more anxiety and more frustration and more anger about AI,” particularly in creative industries: It’s not only getting worse, it’s going to continue to get worse. I think we’re going to see more

They claim to reduce fine lines, blemishes and redness – but which stand up to scrutiny? After consulting dermatologists and putting them to the test, we have crowned a brand new number one L ED face masks are booming in popularity – despite being one of the most expensive at-home beauty products to hit the market. They claim to reduce the appearance of fine lines, stop spots and calm redness, with some even combining different types of light to enhance the benefits. However, it’s wise to be sceptical about new treatments that are costly and non-invasive, and to do your research before you buy. With this in mind, I interviewed doctors and dermatologists to find out whether these light
