“It definitely makes you wonder truly who is the real monster in the situation.” Director Yûta Shimotsu is describing events in a new episode of live-action J-horror anthology show Strange: Junji Ito's Tales for Sleepless Nights , but he could be referring to almost any episode. The award-winning manga artist of the title, whose macabre short works are adapted into disturbing 30-minute bites, has a way of blurring lines between protagonist and antagonist amid his surreal nightmares. Tales for Sleepless Nights aired its 12-episode first season on TV Tokyo this summer, and now HBO Max is bringing those eerie frights to US audiences. The first two installments “Lovesickness (Part 1 of 3)” and

You may have consented to sharing with Muse, but all your friends sure didn’t. There’s a growing trend in the consumer tech world: gadgets designed to spy on everything and everyone around you , regardless of whether or not anyone else actually consented to it. Now, with the advent of “AI personal assistants” like Meta’s Muse, you’re being cheerfully asked not just to give up your own data, but also the information of your friends, family, the person you went on a Hinge date with five years ago — and virtually anyone else you’ve ever come in contact with. Since Muse was released last month, the agent has already been downloaded millions of times and hit No. 1 on Apple’s App Store. With the

What are the messages on spurring the economy that the Democrats are making? Lauren Aratani: In the results from the Guardian’s newest poll with Harris Poll, it’s clear that many Republicans are unhappy about the economy, but they seem conflicted on who is responsible. When asked who or what is most responsible for today’s gas prices – the US federal government, oil companies, the Iranian government or natural economic fluctuations – over half of Democrats and Independents said it is the federal government, while just 28% of Republicans said the same. But that, of course, still means that many Republicans still back their party. Heather: The Democrats’ key message has been: Trump’s war in

Many managers are open to feedback. But if they're not new to management, chances are that someone has given them the feedback. And if they're still doing it after a while, that's a sign that they aren't open to it. reply iExploder 9 hours ago | prev | next [–] You'll be put in a

OpenCode 2.0 is a major over haul. It draws on mil lions of daily users' expe ri ence to deliver a system that can flex to every thing an agent needs to be. There are quite a lot of new fea tures, per for mance improve ments, and bug fixes but here are some of the more impact ful user-facing changes. From the begin ning OpenCode adopted a client/server model. However, this was not some thing it took advan tage of by default and was mostly used by power users. In 2.0 this server now auto mat i cally runs as a single back ground process on your machine. When you open up a TUI, the web inter face or the desktop app they're all talking to the same central process. If you're using the pro gram

This law affects everyone, especially people in the EU and is an attempt to implement ID verification on: Video-sharing platforms, #AI chatbots, AI companions, games, software app stores and operating systems. https://mastodon.social/@madeindex/117285674482286098 The EU’s planned KIDS Act is causing unrest in the Fediverse, the network of independent servers around Mastodon. Critics warn of age verification on every single server and foresee the end of decentralized social networks. It may be very damaging for the Fediverse, but even if the EU outright banned all ActivityPub servers, that wouldn’t force an end to the Fediverse. The Fediverse does not end at the external borders of the EU.

This is one of a three-part mini series about how I’m using modern C as of late 2026. Before C23, I was taken in by How I Program C for years and years, and would even feel guilty for choosing C99 instead of -ansi -pedantic . But holy crap man I’m done being a doomsday prepper! These days I maintain a large-enough project with enough users where I could stand less foot-shooting. (I’ve also got bills to pay.) So here’s three modern C conventions which started to rise naturally from adding -std=c23 to my zig build: Our first one is centered around [[nodiscard]] . If I draw an app window or panel I require the caller to interrogate the rect of the thing that was just

SK Hynix appears to be navigating choppy U.S.-China chipmaking waters. The company’s flash memory unit, Solidigm, is seeking U.S. approval to send American chipmaking equipment to its factory in Dalian, China, as a condition to continue building a semiconductor factory in the U.S, Reuters reported , citing anonymous sources. Solidigm has been reportedly chalking up plans to build a NAND flash memory chip factory in the U.S., and is considering upstate New York as a potential location for the facility. NAND flash chips are primarily used in solid-state storage drives, which are employed in everything from laptops and smartphones to AI data centers. But the global component shortage thanks to
