NEW YORK (AP) — Student loan borrowers now have until the end of 2026 to enroll in auto pay and have their interest rate reduced by 1%. The original deadline was Sept. 30, but the U.S. Department of Education extended it to give borrowers more time to enroll. The rate reduction will last through June 2028. Borrowers who currently use auto pay already receive an interest-rate discount of 0.25%, so the new reduction takes off just 0.75%. This temporary benefit is meant to support borrowers, along with those who are returning to repayment, and ensure they can stay on top of the new Repayment Assistance Plan that requires on-time payments, according to the Education Department. Mecka AI, a startup that collects and analyzes human motion data to train humanoid robots and other kinds of robots, announced it has raised a $60 million Series B round led by Sequoia, with participation from Nvidia, Microsoft’s venture fund M12, and others. After Christa Pike survived Tennessee’s failed attempt to execute her, the unsettled question of whether the state will try again could push Tennessee into uncharted legal territory, experts say. Let’s say someone is interested in reading about how to pick the best apples for baking. I may (in my head) relate that interest to how apple trees grow, and if by some miracle the reader sticks with my piece through that, I will veer from growing apple trees to farming and tending to an apple orchard. I really like AI as a writing assistant because I think it has enabled me to funnel my fluid thought process into something I can flash-freeze with the liquid nitrogen that is prompt-based engineering and package my writing neatly into bite-sized morsels. Admittedly, I am unsure how successful that experiment has been as yet because I don’t really have any avenues of receiving feedback. As

As AI writes more and more of the code, it's quite important to maintain sufficient skill and knowledge to even review or judge AI's output. Here is a little project I whipped up - I personally found deliberate practice quite useful. It focusses on non-coding skills (as I think LOC production is basically solved by AI, IMO). Rather I start with two tracks: general technical fluency (CS / systems / practical fundamentals), and system design. And yes it was built primarily with help of AI tooling. Would love to get some feedback - in particular, do others feel the same way about skill atrophy risk on-the-job nowadays, and whether this tool is helpful potentially or not.
